Before the Dominion of Canada was established in 1867, Indigenous peoples managed flourishing economies for thousands of years, with complex harvesting and wealth management, production and distribution systems, as well as treaties and trading relationships. Today, Indigenous peoples continue to participate in all economic sectors, including arts and culture, resource development, construction, the knowledge economy and academia, entrepreneurship, entertainment, professional services, and the public sector.
This course is about how modern treaties influence the economies of the regions in which they reside.
