Officially established by the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act in 1998, the Gwich’in Land Use Planning Board (GLUPB) developed and is implementing a land use plan for the Gwich’in Settlement Area that provides for the conservation, development and utilization of land, water and resources.
The GLUPB has five members: two nominated by the Gwich’in Tribal Council, one each from the Government of Canada and the Government of Northwest Territories, and a chairperson selected by the four nominees.
