Welcome to Modern Treaties in Canada!
We’re going to spend the next hour together learning about what modern treaties are, how they differ from historical treaties, the benefits of modern treaties to all Canadians, and the challenges of implementing them.
We’ll also answer common questions about modern treaties, and introduce the Land Claims Agreements Coalition, an organization that seeks to advance the interests of all modern treaty holders in Canada.

Course Objectives
By the time you finish this short course you should be able to:

- Describe the general history and context of modern treaties in Canada
- Identify where in Canada modern treaties are located
- Identify some legal implications of modern treaties
- Describe how modern treaties protect and promote Indigenous culture
- List cultural differences and common goals among modern treaty holders
- Contact modern treaty holders and the Land Claims Agreements Coalition (LCAC)
