The Yukon Heritage Resources Board (YHRB) was established in accordance with Chapter 13 of the individual Yukon First Nations’ final agreements (modern treaties). The mandate of the YHRB is to provide advice to the Minister of Tourism and Yukon First Nations on:

• Management of moveable heritage resources
• Policy and guidelines for the designation of historic and heritage sites
• Guidelines and standards for the care and custody of historic objects
• Recommendations on heritage matters such as traditional knowledge and languages
• Use of the Yukon Historic Resources Fund

Membership

The Council of Yukon First Nations (a political advocacy organization for Yukon First Nations) nominates five appointees and the Yukon Government nominates five (with the agreement of the Government of Canada for one of the nominations). All appointments are made by the Yukon Minister of Tourism and Culture for three-year terms.
