Let’s look at an example of a modern treaty land management system: the Teslin Tlingit Final Agreement in Yukon.
The Teslin Tlingit Council own approximately 2,395 km2 of land (Settlement Land) south east of Whitehorse, near the Yukon/BC border. They have surface and subsurface rights to 1,230 km2 and surface rights to 1, 165 km2.
To manage this land and other resources, the Teslin Tlingit Council enacted the Settlement Land and Resources Act 2008.

The Teslin Tlingit Council also has a Land and Resources Department that administers the land management system.
