Most Canadians have a basic understanding of land ownership.

They are aware of different categories of land; such as private land, which any Canadian can purchase, and Crown land, which is owned by government and can be leased to businesses for logging, mineral extraction, etc.

What are the categories of land ownership under modern treaties? Each treaty is as unique as the nation that negotiates it, but here are three examples:
