Welcome to Modern Treaties and Land!
We’re going to spend the next hour together learning about modern treaty land ownership and rights, as well as how modern treaty land is managed, administered and developed.
We’ll also answer common questions about modern treaties and introduce the Land Claims Agreements Coalition, which seeks to advance the interests of all modern treaty holders in Canada.

Course Objectives
By the time you finish this short course you should be able to:
- Define modern treaties
- Identify where in Canada modern treaties are located
- Identify the implications of modern treaties on Indigenous land ownership & rights
- Describe how modern treaty land is managed, administered and developed
- Contact modern treaty organizations and describe the role of the Land Claims Agreements Coalition (LCAC)
