While the Government of Nunavut manages the Nunavut territory through the Nunavut Legislature and its various departments, Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) endeavours to ensure that the promises made under the Nunavut Agreement are carried out. NTI coordinates and manages Inuit responsibilities set out in the Nunavut Agreement and seeks to ensure that the federal and territorial governments fulfill their obligations.

NTI activities include:

• Ongoing implementation of the Nunavut Agreement
• Development of mineral resources on Inuit-Owned lands
• Appointment of members of wildlife management, land use planning, water and development impacts review boards
• Employment and training initiatives
• Support for Inuit businesses
• Wildlife management
• Inuit participation in the fishing industry
• Social and cultural initiatives (language, history, annual reports on the state of Inuit culture and society)
• Suicide prevention
• Health conditions
• Education scholarships
• Housing
• Devolution of public lands and resources from the Government of Canada to the Government of Nunavut
