The Gwich’in Renewable Resources Board was established in the Gwich’in Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement, and is the main body for wildlife, fish and forest management in the Gwich’in Settlement Area (an area in the north of the Northwest Territories). The Board acts in the public interest, representing not only the Gwich’in, but all Canadians. Board staff consult with stakeholders on harvest levels, approval of management plans, advice to government, and setting research priorities in the Gwich’in Settlement Area.
